The salary of Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Karim Massimov is three times less than the one of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, KazTAG reports citing Vremya newspaper and Mojazarplata.kz. “Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Karim Massimov earns $228 a day, $1,139 a week, $4,746 a month and $56,953 a year. The salary of his Russian peer Vladimir Putin is much higher: $723 a day, $3,613 a week, $15,056 a month and $180,667 a year,” the newspaper writes. Besides, the salaries of public sector employees in Kazakhstan are much lower than those in other countries. “For example, Akim (Mayor) of Ust-Kamenogorsk Islam Abishev ($26,933 in 2010) earns 24-times less than Mayor of London Boris Johnson ($640,105 per year),” Mojazarplata.kz writes. According to the project’s data, based on voluntary publication of the profits by Kazakhstan government executives, Governor of West-Kazakhstan oblast Bakytkozha Izmukhambetov earned $37,000 last year, while Mayor of Aktobe Arkhimed Mukhambetov made $21,234 in 2010. Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin made $160 thousand in 2010 and Mayor of Amsterdam Eberhard van der Laan earned $189,404.
