Atyrau suicide bomber was related to terrorist suspects arrested earlier

Suicide bomber Baurzhan Sultangaliyev, 23, who blew himself up in Atyrau, was a associate of earlier arrested suspected terrorists, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing Akim (Governor) of Atyrau oblast Bergei Ryskaliyev.
“We have pre-empted the danger: around 40 people related to terrorist activities are imprisoned. This suicide bomber was their associate,” he said.
Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that two explosions happened in Atyrau in the morning of October 31. The first blast was in the garbage can at Kulmanov street. An hour later a man blew himself up in Saryarka region. Islamic group Djund Al-Khalifat (Soldiers of Khalifat) claimed responsibility for both explosions in Atyrau on October 31.
In August-Septemner Atyrau law-enforcement authorities apprehended a group of people, who were planning terrorist attacks in the region. Elements of self-made explosive device, extrimist religious literature and fire arms were discovered in a search during apprehension. Atyrau oblast court issued a warrant of their arrest.
