The largest flea market of Almaty city has been burning again, Tengrinews reports citing the press-service of the Kazakhstan Emergency Situations Ministry. Five containers at Alatau 2 flea market section were on fire at night on December 12. The total area of fire made 150 square meters. Fire was extinguished within almost two hours by 107 firefighters and 34 fire engines of firefighting service of Almaty's Emergency Situations Department. No casualties were reported. Before that Alatau 2 section was on fire on November 26. Careless handling of fire reportedly caused the accident. The fire started in a container with sport goods, after the seller left a burning candle in the container, and fire moved to the boxes. The flea market of Almaty has endured two massive fires this year. The huge fire started at 1:33 p.m. on September 13 in Olzha section and then spilled into Ayan section and partially into Keremet and Alatau sections. Welding works reportedly caused that fire. The second huge fire happened on November 17 at Zhana Kulager, Aral and Eurasia sections of the Almaty flea market. The fire started during the night, presumably at 3 a.m., but was stopped from spreading only hours later at 11:08 a.m. and completely extinguished by midnight. The total area of the fire made 3800 square meters.
