Kazakhstan Defense Ministry is starting to select candidates for education in U.S. military universities in 2014, Tengrinews reports citing the Ministry’s press-service. Four Kazakhstan citizens will be sent to the U.S. to study for 4 years in prestigious universities, including the Military Academy at West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy and the Coast Guard Academy. The candidates may apply to the defense departments in their home cities. The documents will be accepted from October 7 to November 20, 2013. The candidates have to be single, over 17 and under 23. They have to be high school graduates and speak English. Besides, the candidates have to be ready for military service subject to certification by the military-medical check. The selection process will include interviews with the U.S. embassy’s representatives, physical tests, SAT and TOEFL tests. Information on those enrolled in the U.S. universities will be available in May 2014 and the students will leave for the studies in the middle of June 2014. The students will sign military service contracts with the Kazakhstan Armed Forces. Upon comeback to Kazakhstan, they will have to serve in the Kazakhstan army for at least 10 years. Earlier two Kazakhstan citizens received certificates for education in the U.S.: Abylai Akhmetov got enrolled in West Point Academy and Ilias Kameledinov became a student of the U.S. Naval Academy.
