A second autopsy of the body of the former ambassador to Austria Rakhat Aliyev conducted in Switzerland confirmed his death was a suicide, Tengrinews reports citing Austrian edition Krone.

Rakhat Aliyev was found hanging in his Viennas’ Josefstadt prison cell on the night on 23 February. Later, the Ministry of Justice of Austria officially confirmed the suicide of the former ambassador. It was noted that shortly before the incident Aliyev moved from a three-person cell to a solitary confinement at his own request.
The version that Rakhat Aliyev committed suicide was confirmed in the first autopsy. Also, it was reported earlier that the blood of the ex-ambassador had traces of drugs. According to media reports, the pre-test detected traces of barbiturates. The final results of toxicological studies are not yet ready.
Aliyev’s lawyers expressed doubt that the death of their client was a suicide and urged a thorough investigation into the matter.
