Fuel supplies from the neighboring Russia are set to be reduced in 2014, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Sauat Mynbayev, KazMunaiGas National O&G Company Head, as saying at the extended sitting of the Company. “The recent [20%] currency devaluation in Kazakhstan has made it more expensive to import fuel from Russia; given the domestic prices for fuel the Russian supplies are set to decrease”, he said. According to him, in the first time it will have a positive impact on the domestic oil refineries as they have too much fuel in stock. However, in the longer run there might be a shortage of fuel as Kazakhstan depends on fuel imports. “It’s obvious the Government should come up with some measures to facilitate imports in the nearest time”, he said.
