In 2013 the air force of Kazakhstan will be equipped with two C-295 military aircraft from European aircraft maker Airbus, the national Defense Ministry’s Press Service reports.
“A respective contract has been signed between the Defense Ministry and Airbus Military”, the statement reads.
According to the Defense Ministry, the first two aircraft will be delivered to Kazakhstan early 2013. Besides, an MoU has been signed to deliver another 6 aircraft.
“Respective further contracts will be signed within a few next years. By 2018 the military fleet of Kazakhstan will have been equipped with a total of 8 C-295 aircraft”, the statement elaborates.
Under the MoU, Airbus Military is to provide the Kazakh side with all the maintenance guidelines so that the Kazakh military could maintain С-295 aircraft on their own.
The C295 is a multifunction aircraft that operates into short, unimproved runways. It is extremely effective in operating in austere, remote airfields, and in adverse weather conditions and has exceptionally low fuel-consumption.
The C-295 is the only tactical transport aircraft in its category in service with the Armed Forces of more than 10 countries: proven experience in many different missions: humanitarian response, long deployments in remote areas, logistic missions.
