Bond blockbuster "Skyfall" joined already Oscar-tipped films like Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" and Iran spy drama "Argo" on the Producers Guild of America best film shortlist, AFP reports according to the Wednesday announcement. Osama bin Laden manhunt movie "Zero Dark Thirty" and Quentin Tarantino's brutal western "Django Unchained" were also among 10 films nominated by the PGA, whose choices have a history of pointing towards Oscar glory. "Skyfall" by director Sam Mendes is the first 007 movie to make it onto the PGA shortlist, putting it alongside a bevy of films that have already gained Oscars buzz as Hollywood's annual awards season hots up. Others nominated for the PGA's Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award include musical adaptation "Les Miserables" by Tom Hooper and "Life of Pi" by Taiwanese-American Ang Lee, both also already Oscar tipped. The PGA shortlist also includes Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom," "Happiness Therapy" by David O. Russell and "Beasts of the Southern Wild," all less talked about so far in Tinseltown this season. The PGA awards are closely watched because the winner of its top prize -- to be announced on January 26 this year -- has gone on to the win the Best Picture Oscar 16 times in the last 23 years, the Hollywood Reporter noted.
