Famous Italian operatic tenor Vittorio Grigalo will perform on the stage of Astana Opera House on October 6 as part of the First International Silk Road Festival, Tengrinews reports citing the press service of Astana Opera.


Famous Italian operatic tenor Vittorio Grigalo will perform on the stage of Astana Opera House on October 6 as part of the First International Silk Road Festival, Tengrinews reports citing the press service of Astana Opera.

The Gala Concert featuring the Italian tenor will mark the end of the First International Silk Road Festival that is taking place in Astana from September 17 to October 5. The program of the First International Silk Road Festival includes performances of outstanding opera singers and ballet dancers from Italy, France, China, Russia and Kazakhstan.

The concert will start at 7 p.m. in Astana Opera House located on Kunayev Street, at the crossing with Turan Av. Tickets are available online on the Astana Opera website.

Director of Astana Opera Tolegen Mukhamedzhanov views the performance of Vittorio Grigolo as a great finishing stroke for the Festival. “We kept the name of the guest star secret, because we wanted to surprise our audience. As for those who are only starting to explore the beautiful and amazing world of art, we hope the rich program of the gala concert and Vittorio Grigolo's singing will become a wonderful introduction of the bright metropolitan theatre,” Tolegen Mukhamedzhanov said.

Vittorio Grigolo, 37 was born in Arezzo, Tuscany and raised in Rome. Vittorio was four when he discovered his passion for music. A few years later, he became a soloist of the Sistine Chapel choir, one of the oldest religious choirs in the world.

At the age of 13, he debuted as the Shepherd in Puccini's Tosca sharing the stage with Luciano Pavarotti, one of the finest tenors of the 20th century. His debut was so great that Italian audience named him 'Il Pavarottino'.

At the age of 18, Vittorio became the first Italian to be exempted from compulsory military service because of his promising career.

At the age of 23, he became the youngest tenor ever to perform at La Scala, Milan.

In 2010, Vittorio Grigolo signed an exclusive and long-term contract with Sony Classical.

Currently, Vittorio Grigolo’s repertoire includes 24 operas of Mozart, Donizetti, Verdi, Puccini, Gounod, Massenet, Offenbach, Bernstein and Rossini. He performs in the world’s greatest opera houses including La Scala, Milan, The Royal Opera House, London, The Metropolitan Opera, New York, Washington National Opera, Washington, D.C, Deutsche Oper, Berlin.
