Kazakh singer Saltanat Akhmetova wins Big Opera in Russia

Kazakhstani opera singer Saltanat Akhmetova has become the winner of the Big Opera television competition for young artists.


Kazakhstani opera singer Saltanat Akhmetova has become the winner of the Big Opera television competition for young artists.

The competition took place at the Moscow Conservatorium after Chaikovsky. 

Saltanat Akhmetova thanked Kazakhstanis for their support. The singer said that competitions such as Big Opera help promote opera singing and find new talents, and that Kazakhstan could benefit from a similar competition.

Akhmetzhanova is a graduate of Birzhan Musical College in Kokshetau and then the Kazakh National Academy of Music in Astana. The singer has been working at Astana Opera since 2013.

The opera singer has previously won Villaincanto in Italy, International Glinki Competition and others. Last year, Akhmetzhanova won the Klassik-Herbst Forderpreis prize at the Neue Stimmen in Germany.

Saltanat’s performance at the Moscow Conservatory brought thunderous ovations.
