RZA, American Wu-Tang Clan hip-hop band frontman, is going to shoot a movie about Genghis Khan, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
RZA is planning to direct the movie on John Milius’s script. The story will be told from the point of view of Khan’s son and grandson. It is expected that the rapper will start shooting in China in 2013. The project has been in the works for years, and it was expected that Mickey Rourke will be starring in the picture as the grand conqueror.
RZA had his first debut as a filmmaker when he directed The Man With the Iron Fists that was released in November 2012. The movie was also shot in China. Russell Crowe, Cung Le and Lucy Liu are starring in the movie.
Besides of Genghis Khan movie the musician is going to direct No Man’s Land thriller that will be a story of a man who steals a diamond from a powerful criminal. The story will be unfolding during one night.
Genghis Khan is one of the great military figures in world history. He is the ruler who united the Mongol tribes and conquered great parts of Asia and Eastern Europe in the early 13th century. Some Kazakhstan historians believe that the legendary conqueror, who died in 1227, was a Kazakh.
