Tengrinews.kz – Five days remain until the final deadline for paying the vehicle tax for 2024, which expires on April 1.
What happens if you don’t pay the vehicle tax?
If the tax is overdue, a penalty will be charged. If the debt exceeds one monthly calculation index (MCI), a tax order may be issued. In case of non-payment, court enforcement officers have the right to seize the debtor’s accounts and property. Taxpayers have 30 working days to make the payment after receiving a notification.
How is the vehicle tax calculated?
The tax for passenger cars in 2024 is calculated based on engine volume and the MCI, which is set at 3,692 tenge for 2024. For vehicles with an engine capacity of more than 1,500 cubic centimeters, an additional charge of 7 tenge per cubic centimeter is applied to the base rate.
Where to check tax debt?
You can check your tax debt on the kgd.gov.kz portal or in the e-Salyq Azamat mobile application. The tax is charged to the vehicle owner, even if the car is used by another person under a power of attorney.
Who is exempt from vehicle tax?
Certain categories of individuals are exempt from paying tax on one vehicle:
- WWII veterans
- Mothers with honorary awards "Mother Heroine," "Altyn Alka," and "Kumis Alka"
- Persons with disabilities
