Tengrinews.kz – U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the American division of the Chinese social network TikTok has a potential buyer.
He revealed this during an interview with Fox News, which aired on Sunday, June 29.
"We have a buyer for TikTok, by the way," the U.S. leader said.
Trump explained that China’s approval would be required, but he believes Chinese President Xi Jinping "will likely do it."
However, he did not disclose who exactly is interested in the purchase, only noting that it is a "group of very wealthy people."
"I’ll tell you about it in about two weeks," he added.

Earlier, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that Trump would extend the deadline for TikTok's owner to find a U.S. buyer for the third time, allowing the app to continue operating in the country. She noted that the president plans to sign an order enabling TikTok to function despite a law currently in effect that bans the app due to national security concerns.
The document will grant ByteDance, the Chinese company that owns TikTok, an additional three months to comply with the 2024 law requiring the app to be sold to a non-Chinese buyer—or else face a complete ban in the U.S.
During his first term in office, Trump already attempted to ban TikTok by signing a similar order. He claimed the app could be used in the interests of a hostile state — China. However, U.S. courts blocked that ban.
