Zhanaozen residents will get compensated for the cars burnt during riots, Tengrinews.kz reports. “We will not sign a decree right now. Count all these cars and we will allocate the money from this fund (special fund created after the clashes). The most important is to ensure public control and the compensations will be paid namely to those affected. We will compensate everything at the sponsors’ cost,” Prime-Minister Karim Massimov instructed the government. Head of the government commission Umirzak Shukeyev informed that the owners of 12 out of 31 burnt cars had already applied for reimbursement for a total amount of 208 million tenge ($1.4 million). The issue of reimbursement is being solved right now and the decision is made on issuing cheap loans from Damu fund to entrepreneurs.
