Secretary General of Bureau International des Expositions content with Kazakhstan’s progress towards hosting EXPO-2017

Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales, Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), is content with Kazakhstan’s progress towards hosting the EXPO - 2017. On a visit to Astana he met Kazakh Foreign Minister Erlan Idrissov, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the country’s Foreign Ministry Press Service. “Mr. Loscertales expressed gratitude to the Ministry for active participation in the EXPO project, adding that the prep works are more than successful”, the statement reads. According to him, the prep works “are in line with the schedule and in accord with the Bureau standards”. During the talks the Minister briefed Mr. Loscertales on the work done by the state-run EXPO-2017 committee and assured that the Kazakh side would do all the necessary steps. The Minister emphasized that the exhibition is a project of national significance, a platform to develop renewable sources of energy, pushing Kazakhstan to a greener economy. The sides have agreed to keep on close cooperation to ensure the EXPO is successful.
