Kazakhstan President has once again reminded the officials about their obligations to serve the people as public workers, Tengrinews.kz reports. “I have repeated its several times that only professionals should be promoted. Today some of our regional and city Akims (Mayors) stay in their positions for 10 years! There is nothing bad about that if the work is being done and there is no stagnation. But some of those who produce no good results have turned into local princelets. We have to get rid of such people and they have to understand it themselves and move to another work or resign,” Nazarbayev said at the meeting with Akims. The President reminded Kazakhstan Akims that the word “state servant” originates from the word “to serve”. The President criticized the officials, university deans, school principals and even kindergarten heads who felt themselves celestials after receiving their positions and forgot about their calling to serve people. “Same is true for other officials and workers of different city administrations, who are responsible for people’s fates. State officials live out of taxes paid by Kazakhstan people. They hired you and me to serve them and not vice versa! Remember this once and for all. How many times do I have to tell this? You have to be closer to people and their aspirations. Only then there will be respect and order,” the President said.
