Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Secretary General of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) Vicente Loscertales, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan President's press-service. The meeting covered preparation for holding EXPO-2017. "You have already met with heads of several state authorities, in particular with Vice-PM responsible for holding the exhibition, Prime-Minister and Astana Akim (Mayor). You were told all the details about the work performed on this project. I know that you have been supporting us from day one and I am very thankful for that. Now we have to perform a lot of work and in this relation we need your support and assistance of the International Bureau. We have to finish all the organizational issues this year," the press-service cites Nazarbayev. President told Loscertales that the preparatory works are already in process on the coming exhibition called The Energy of Future. "We have defined the territory for the exhibition that is close to the city's infrastructure and utilities. We have created a special company and I already appointed its head. Now I would like to hear your advice and opinions on our joint work for successful performance of this important project. I think that holding this exhibition will be beneficial not only to Kazakhstan, but for the whole region as well, as this will be the first event of such a large-scale held in the region. I am personally controlling all the works," the President said. Loscertales said that the fact that the majority of the organization's member-states had supported Astana's bid certified that Kazakhstan's application was well-prepared. "I have to note that the subject of the exhibition fully complies with the aspirations of all the participants. We are ready to further continue the joint cooperation in this area and believe that such purposefulness and activeness of your country will ensure a successful hosting of the global fair that will attract millions of visitors," Loscertales said. According to the President's press-service, the meeting covered further use of the pavilions, "which is one of the main principles of holding the EXPO". Besides, BIE Secretary General noted that starting from 2014 Kazakhstan will get a chance to invite foreign participants to start preparations for erecting the required infrastructure. "We will invite different Kazakhstan and foreign innovative companies to make the exhibition highly technological and innovative. This will make Astana and Kazakhstan recognizable," Loscertales stressed.
