CSTO Secretary General meets with Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs

Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordyuzha has met with Yerlan Idrissov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing the press office of the Ministry.


Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordyuzha has met with Yerlan Idrissov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing the press office of the Ministry.

On August 21, Bordyuzha and Idrissov discussed coopering of the CSTO member-states in ensuring collective security.

“Kazakhstan is committed to increasing CSTO capacities to ensure stability and security of its member states,” the Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry declared. Idrissov, in turn, expressed his satisfaction with the results of the meeting of Ministers from the member-countries on April 3, 2014 in Moscow.

During the meeting, Bordyuzha and Idrissov discussed preparation for the unofficial meeting of the member state representatives at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in September and the next CSTO session.

In addition, joint military drills Interaction 2014 of the Collective Rapid Reaction Force of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) were held in Kazakhstan on August 18-22, 2014. The drills took place at Spassk military range in Karaganda Oblast, in central Kazakhstan. They involved more than 3,000 participants, over 200 land military vehicles and around 30 aircrafts from Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Armenia.
