A new chairman of the Agency for Religious Affairs of Kazakhstan has been appointed, Tengrinews reports citing the official website of the Kazakhstan Prime-Minister. Prime-Minister Serik Akhmetov presented the new chairman of the Kazakhstan Religious Agency Marat Azilkhanov to the agency's staff. The head of the government distinguished the previous chairman Kairat Lama Sharif's contribution into establishment and development of the agency. "The agency has important tasks related to ensuring cross-confessional consent, observance of Kazakhstan citizen's religious rights and cooperation with religious associations. I wish you to succeed in your work," Akhmetov said. The previous head of the Religious Agency, Kairat Lama Sharif, was the first chairman of the agency that was established in May 2011. He was appointed Kazakhstan Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates on October 9, 2013.
