First heart transplantation surgery to be performed in Kazakhstan

First surgeries on heart, liver and pancreas transplantation will be performed in Kazakhstan in November, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Syzganov National Scientific Cardiology Center. “Syzganov National Scientific Cardiology Center is developing a program on organs transplantation to decrease mortality from circulatory illnesses and is planning to perform heart and liver transplantation surgeries for the first time in Kazakhstan. Currently organs transplantation and particularly heart transplantation is an index of the level of medicine in the country,” the Center's message states. According to Interfax-Kazakhstan, the first transplantation surgeries will be controlled by Belarus Transplantation Institute. Further on such surgeries will be performed by local experts trained in Belarus. It is expected that residents of Almaty and Almaty oblast will become the first patients. “First surgeries will be performed free of charge under financial support of the state,” employee of the Center Gulbarshin Shakhmetova said.
