The number of cars manufactured by local car plants has increased almost 18-fold in the last 4 years in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports. According to Kazakhstan Car-Business Association, the country produces around 11 thousand card a year. According to the Association, a platform for SKD assembly, including welding and painting, was organized in 2011 and 2012. This is one of the stages of implementation of the project to produce Nomad, the first Kazakhstan-made car. This project is unique for Kazakhstan, especially by its scale. It is worth around 11 billion tenge ($73.3 million). The launch of SKD assembly will allow to increase car output to 25 thousand a year. Kazakhstan Car-Business Association also said that Astana Motors is going to export over 400 cars to Belarus, Russia and Central Asian countries this year. AutoVAZ and Asia Auto will build a factory in Ust-Kamenogorsk with a capacity of 60 thousand cars per year.
