Kazakhstan-based oil refineries process 14.3 million tons of crude in 2013

All the three Kazakhstan-based oil refineries processed nearly 14.3 million tons of crude in 2013, Newskaz.ru reports, citing the country’s Ministry of Oil and Gas Press Service. The 2013 crude and condensed gas production totaled 81.8 million tons. Crude and condensed gas exports for the period made up 72.077 million tons. Among other things, the press release elaborates that the shipping capabilities of the Atasu-Alashankow oil pipeline to China were brought up to 20 million tons a year. Natural gas production for the period totaled 42.3 billion cubic meters, with domestic consumption standing at 10.9 billion cubic meters and exports standing at 8.6 billion cubic meters. Transit of gas across Kazakhstan totaled 99.146 billion cubic meters. Late December 2013 Tengrinews.kz reported citing Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund Managing Director Malik Salimgiriyev that KazMunaiGas National Oil and Gas Company would have completed a feasibility study to construct an oil refinery [4th in the country] in Kazakhstan by 2015. The country’s Government has been commissioned to decide before the end of the Q1 2014 on the location and sources of financing for a 4th oil refinery and a nuclear power plant, President Nazarbayev said January 17 in his Address to the Nation.
