Hong Kong, Shanghai stocks tumble in morning trade

Hong Kong stocks tumbled Thursday morning, with energy shares again hammered by the previous day's plunge in oil prices fuelled by worries over a planned output cut by major producers.


Hong Kong stocks tumbled Thursday morning, with energy shares again hammered by the previous day's plunge in oil prices fuelled by worries over a planned output cut by major producers.

The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong sank 1.15 percent, or 268.81 points, to 23,056.62.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.34 percent, or 10.50 points, to 3,105.81 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, fell 0.23 percent, or 4.81 points, to 2,064.55.
