Tengrinews.kz - Three passengers on a flight from Almaty to Delhi were arrested after refusing meals during the flight, according to CNN-News18.
A flight attendant became concerned with three men displaying suspicious behavior. Despite the late-night hours, they declined all food and drinks, unlike most passengers. The men remained unusually calm throughout the flight.
"Concerned by their actions, the air hostess attempted to offer them tea and water, but each time, her gestures were met with abrupt refusals. Growing increasingly suspicious, she alerted the flight captain, who promptly contacted customs officials through air traffic control," the report states.
Upon landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport, customs officials stopped the passengers despite their passing through the green corridor. Initial baggage scans and a metal detector check revealed nothing unusual.
"Undeterred, customs officials escorted the trio to a private room for interrogation. It was during this questioning that all three individuals confessed to concealing gold pieces within their rectums," the publication notes.
Authorities recovered eight pieces of gold weighing a total of 439 grams. All three passengers were arrested and are now in custody.
The nationality of the suspects has not been disclosed.
Previously, a Russian plane bound for China experienced rapid cabin depressurization, causing panic among passengers.
