Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan's General Prosecutor's Office has reported the extradition of a Kazakh citizen from Russia to face charges related to an armed robbery.

"The General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan has extradited a Kazakh citizen from the Russian Federation to face criminal charges for committing armed robbery. In August 2023, in Pavlodar, the perpetrator, seeking to seize someone else’s property, conspired with an acquaintance to commit the crime," read the statement.

To carry out their plan, the suspects, intoxicated at the time, lured an acquaintance to a dark location at night. After beating him until he lost consciousness, they stole property worth approximately 200,000 tenge. The victim sustained moderate injuries from the assault.

One of the accomplices has already been sentenced to five years in prison. The second suspect fled, leading to an international warrant being issued.

"In April of this year, he was detained in Tyumen, Russia, and subsequently extradited to Kazakhstan at the request of the General Prosecutor’s Office. The suspect is currently held in a detention facility and faces a potential sentence of five to ten years in prison, along with asset confiscation," added the Prosecutor’s Office.

Earlier, Sweden extradited a suspect in the embezzlement of millions of tenge to Kazakhstan.
