Tengrinews.kz — A set of measures to prevent the illegal export of fuels and lubricants across the border is in effect in Kazakhstan. Vice Minister of Energy Kaiyrkhan Tutkyshbayev spoke about them in more detail at a government briefing.
According to the vice minister, one of the measures currently in place is a restriction on the entry of vehicles from border states.
“A measure is currently in effect under which trucks and passenger vehicles from border states may enter Kazakhstan no more than once a day,” Kaiyrkhan Tutkyshbayev said.
He added that special attention is being paid to combating the so-called gray export of fuel.
“The main work is now focused on identifying vehicles with additional fuel tanks that are used for the ‘gray’ export of fuel. This work is being carried out jointly by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Financial Monitoring Agency, the Border Service and customs authorities,” the vice minister said.
According to the official, violators attempting to illegally export fuel are regularly identified in border regions.
“A set of measures aimed at preventing the ‘gray’ export of fuels and lubricants from Kazakhstan is currently in effect,” Tutkyshbayev concluded.
Situation with gasoline
Earlier, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov instructed officials to strengthen control over the illegal export of fuels and lubricants. According to the government, in just two days, 61 attempts to export more than three tons of fuel in additional tanks and canisters were stopped at checkpoints, while since the beginning of the year, 593 attempts to illegally export petroleum products have been prevented.
In May, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the detection of vehicles with illegally installed additional fuel tanks that were used to export gasoline outside Kazakhstan. At the time, the violators were brought to administrative responsibility, and the vehicles were sent to specialized parking lots until the violations were eliminated.
