Tengrinews.kz - The National Bank of Kazakhstan is issuing a commemorative 1,000 tenge banknote starting May 9, 2025, to mark the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, citing the bank’s press service.
The limited edition banknote will have a circulation of 5 million.
The banknote’s color scheme is brown and beige.
Front side features:
- The Memorial of Glory, located in the Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen, honoring the heroes who gave their lives for the Motherland.
- A micro-optic security strip. When the viewing angle changes, it reveals a 3D depth, volume, and glow effect, as well as the movement of an eternal flame and flying cranes. The crane silhouettes symbolize kindness and hope and represent life.
Reverse side features:
- A map of Kazakhstan with fragments of historical archive photographs.
- The Order of the Patriotic War, symbolizing bravery, resilience, and courage.

“The commemorative 1,000 tenge banknote is legal tender throughout Kazakhstan at face value for all types of payments, and can also be deposited, transferred, exchanged, and used in all banks across the country,” the National Bank stated.
Earlier, the National Bank issued commemorative coins for the 80th anniversary of Victory Day.
