Tengrinews.kz – Lufthansa has announced its return to the Kazakh market: regular flights to Almaty and Astana will resume from 29 March 2026. These are routes from Frankfurt am Main that were previously temporarily suspended for the winter schedule period.
How many flights and on which routes
As clarified by the airline, the frequency will be nine flights per week.
“We are pleased to announce that from 29 March 2026 Lufthansa will resume five regular flights to Almaty (ALA) and four to Astana (NQZ) from Frankfurt am Main (FRA),” the company said.
Flights will be operated on a circular routing. This means passengers will be offered both direct flights from each city and options with an intermediate stop.
“Air services will be operated on a circular basis, offering both direct flights from each city and flights with an intermediate stop in Almaty and Astana, in order to provide more departure options with the possibility of onward connections to cities in Europe and North America,” the airline noted.
How the transfer will work
The airline separately explained that the transit format will depend on the city.
“During the intermediate stop in Astana, passengers flying further will remain on board, while in Almaty passengers will be invited to spend their waiting time in the transit hall of Almaty Airport,” the carrier said.
Aircraft and classes of service
Flights will be operated by wide-body Airbus A340-300 aircraft with three classes of service: business class with fully lie-flat seats, premium economy class with enhanced comfort, and economy class.
In all classes, passengers are promised meals and drinks, personal screens with an entertainment system including children’s content, as well as access to FlyNet internet.
