Tengrinews.kz – Lufthansa Airlines has announced a temporary suspension of flights to Kazakhstan during the winter schedule of 2025/2026. This was reported to Tengrinews.kz by the airline's press service.
The suspension applies to flights on the Frankfurt – Almaty and Frankfurt – Astana routes, which will not operate from October 26, 2025, to March 29, 2026.
Why the flights were suspended
According to Lufthansa, the decision was based on a comprehensive evaluation of the route network, with a focus on economic efficiency, seasonal demand, and the current availability of aircraft.
“Lufthansa continuously evaluates and optimizes its entire route network, paying special attention to economic efficiency, seasonal specifics, and the limited availability of aircraft,” the press service stated.
The company emphasized that, like many other airlines, Lufthansa is facing global delays in the delivery of new aircraft and logistical challenges affecting fleet stability. These factors, combined with the need to ensure a reliable and punctual winter schedule, were key to the decision.
“A stable, punctual, and reliable flight schedule for the winter season is a top priority for the Lufthansa Group. For this reason, a broad range of measures has already been implemented for the summer of 2025, such as extended layover times and the provision of backup aircraft,” the airline added.
Will flights operate in the summer
Currently, Lufthansa operates five flights per week between Kazakhstan and Germany. The suspension applies only to the winter season; flights are expected to resume in spring 2026. No changes are planned for the summer 2025 schedule.
Passengers whose bookings are affected by the cancellation will be notified directly. They will also be able to make changes to their trips online via the Lufthansa website, contact a travel agency, or call the customer support line at +7 (800) 080 83 34.
