Tengrinews.kz – Starting May 14, 2025, Kazakhstan will impose a temporary ban on the export of liquefied petroleum gas, propane, and butane.
This is stated in the explanatory note to the draft order of the Minister of Energy, published on the “Open NPA” portal.
The restriction will be in effect for six months and will apply to both road and rail transport.
"To introduce a ban on the export from the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan of liquefied petroleum gas (EAEU HS code 2711 12 970 0), propane (code 2711 12 940 0), and butane (code 2711 13 970 0) by road and rail transport for a period of six months," the draft order states.
It’s worth recalling that in early October 2024, former Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev acknowledged that a shortage of liquefied gas had occurred at certain fuel stations in some regions. According to him, the issue was due to the harvesting campaign and rains, which caused farmers to require additional resources for grain drying. However, he assured that there was no shortage of any type of petroleum product in the country.
Nevertheless, a year ago, the minister had advised car owners not to convert their vehicles to run on autogas. He noted that the consumption of liquefied petroleum gas had exceeded the planned volume in 2023.
