Kazakhstan banks’ assets total $87 billion as of July 1

Total assets of Kazakhstan’s banks as of July 1 made up $87 billion, growing by 2.8% in June, Novosti Kazakhstan reports, citing the National Bank’s Committee for Financial Supervision. Estimated net worth of the banking sector stood at $13.4 billion, 2.2% up against June. Foreign currency – denominated assets accounted for 33.1% of the total assets. Banks’ loan portfolio totaled $64 billion. Loans to non-residents made up 13.6% of the loan portfolio as of July 1 (at the start of the year the figure stood at 14.8%). Foreign currency-denominated loans made up 46.5% of the loan portfolio. Banks’ liabilities made up $77.5 billion. Banks’ profit stood at $70 million. The Banking sector of Kazakhstan comprises 39 banks of the 2nd tier.
