What happened

The footage shows one man punching another while those around them attempt to intervene and stop the altercation.

According to information shared on social media, the incident occurred on an Air Astana flight.

“A fight broke out on board an Air Astana flight departing from Almaty to Bangkok. Before takeoff, two intoxicated passengers got into a physical altercation. Instead of continuing their vacation, they ended up at the Almaty transport police station. The flight departed for Thailand with a one-hour delay and without the two passengers,” the post says.

What the police said

Tengrinews.kz contacted the press service of the Transport Police Department, which confirmed the incident.

“At Almaty airport, four foreign nationals were removed from the Almaty–Bangkok flight by transport police officers. Two of them were intoxicated. A conflict arose between them and escalated into a fight,” the department reported.

According to police, a criminal case has been opened over hooliganism committed on board the aircraft.

“A criminal case has been initiated over hooligan actions on board the aircraft. Two of the offenders have been placed in a temporary detention facility. Further information is not subject to disclosure in accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the press service stated.

Transport police also emphasized that aggressive behavior and conflicts on public transport are considered serious violations.

“Any attempts to destabilize the situation on transport are regarded as a serious threat, and those responsible will be held fully accountable under the law,” the department stressed.

It is noted that the flight to Bangkok continued without the passengers involved in the conflict.
