Tengrinews.kz – On the night of 11–12 January, many passengers faced hours-long flight delays at Almaty Airport. The press service of Almaty International Airport explained the reason for the mass delays.

What happened

Many flights at Almaty Airport were delayed for 3–4 hours.

Against this backdrop, posts appeared on social media from passengers claiming that one of the planes had allegedly been turned back from Almaty “due to military actions” at the airport.

Airport’s comment

Almaty Airport denied the rumors about “martial law” and said that the airspace had not been closed.

“The flight delays were related to production and operational reasons and were of a routine nature,” the statement said.
