Tengrinews.kz - A baby girl was born aboard the Astana–Zhezkazgan passenger train.
According to the press service of JSC "Passenger Transportation," the birth took place on May 27 aboard train No. 66 en route from Astana to Zhezkazgan.
"The passenger, Alvina Pernabaeva, who was in the final month of pregnancy, went into labor during the trip and sought assistance from the train staff. Train chief Kiikbay Makhanov and conductor Altynai Gafiullina responded quickly and followed all protocol, organizing the conditions necessary for delivering the baby on board," the company said in a statement.
They were assisted by two fellow passengers – a paramedic from Satpayev and a kindergarten worker, the company added.
Thanks to the efforts of the train staff and passengers, a healthy baby girl was delivered at 6:20 a.m.
"A medical team was called to the nearest station, Zhenis, to meet the mother and newborn for further observation. The baby’s father, Alikhan Zhanalin, expressed sincere gratitude to everyone who stepped in and provided timely and professional help. He also said the girl was named Asylym," the press service noted.
The company added that train crews regularly undergo training in first aid and emergency response.
In the past three years, 15 babies have been born on trains operated by JSC "Passenger Transportation."
Earlier, JSC "Passenger Transportation" reminded parents of the rules for traveling with children by train.
