Earlier, Almaty residents began receiving notifications via the "National Alert" system.
Ministry of Emergency Situations Statement
The Ministry of Emergency Situations commented on the situation.
"Due to the mudflow risk in the Nauryzbay district of Almaty, a preventive evacuation is being conducted for residents living along the Aksay River. To ensure their safety, they are being temporarily relocated to reception centers set up at local schools," the ministry stated.
The ministry added that an operational headquarters has been established on-site, and civil protection services are currently deployed.
"A hotline has been opened at 8 (727) 279-22-32. Four calls have been received so far. All activities are proceeding as planned, and the situation is under control," the department reported.

Earlier, residents of Almaty shared screenshots of notifications from the "National Alert" system on social media and messaging apps.
"Threat of flooding in the Nauryzbay district. Dam filtration in progress. Urgent evacuation required," the message read.

It is noted that all units of the MES, Kazselezashchita (Mudflow Protection), and Almaty's civil protection services are operating in high-alert mode. The situation is under constant supervision, mudflow-prone areas are being monitored, and rescue units are ready for immediate response.
For safety reasons, rescuers have advised residents and visitors to temporarily avoid hiking or visiting the Ile-Alatau mountains until weather conditions stabilize.

A Tengrinews.kz correspondent contacted local residents, who reported that they were warned of the flood threat via loudspeakers.
"At about 1:30 PM, a vehicle with a loudspeaker drove down the street. Residents were warned of the flood risk, asked not to panic, and told to prepare documents and essentials, as well as to keep children indoors. We have everything ready. There is no flooding yet; they are only talking about the threat," a local resident said.
Additionally, residents of the Akzhar micro-district reported hearing sirens around 2:30 PM. Eyewitnesses say the water level in the Aksay River has risen.
According to online maps, traffic jams formed on Zhandosov Avenue heading toward the Nauryzbay district following the start of the alerts.
"The situation is stable"
As of 2:35 PM, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the hydrological situation in the Nauryzbay district remains stable.
"At this hour, the hydrological situation in the Nauryzbay district remains stable. The Almaty Department of Emergency Situations, the monitoring and alert service, the emergency mechanized brigade of Kazselezashchita, and civil protection services are in full readiness and continue round-the-clock monitoring. Once the situation fully stabilizes and the threat is eliminated, residents will be able to return to their homes, and the public will be informed accordingly," the MES stated.
As a reminder, forecasters previously warned that Almaty could expect thunderstorms, hail, and heavy rain at night on July 1. Southwestern winds are expected at 3–8 m/s, with gusts reaching 15–20 m/s. Air temperatures are forecast at +20...+22°C at night and +27...+29°C during the day.
