Runways expose passengers to danger in some of Kazakhstan's cities, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Majilis deputy Viktor Rogalev. “Aircrafts land on worndown runways exposing passengers to danger in Kostanay, Petropavlovsk, Semey, Taldykorgan and Taraz. There are cracks, hollows, settled plates and insufficient protective fencing. The airports lack emergency-rescue, fire-fighting and de-icing equipment,” Viktor Rogalev said at Majilis meeting. According to him, the runway strips are owned by the state in many countries. “This is made for aviation safety in general and the passengers’ safety, first of all,” he noted. Viktor Rogalev reminded that the deputies had earlier discussed the issue of Air Astana’s flights from Astana and Almaty to Uralsk. Back than the national airline mentioned improper technical condition of runways in Uralsk international airport several times. “It is a critical situation requiring immediate measures,” the deputy said.
