American surgeon Oscar Frazier M.D. has given high praise to the professional level of Kazakhstan surgeons, Tengrinews reports citing the press-service of the National Scientific Cardiosurgical Center. "I was surprised that Kazakhstan’s Cardiosurgical Center was so advanced and I noticed that its cardiac surgeons were very diligent and did their best. I witnessed this during several surgeries in the Center. I didn't expect to see such a level of skills. It is even higher than in some European countries," director of Cardiovascular Surgery Research at the Texas Heart Institute Oscar Frazier M.D. said. The second successful heart transplantation was held in Kazakhstan on November 7. “This was the first time when a donor heart was transported across a large distance – from Almaty to Astana -- using special medical equipment from TransMedics (USA). This advanced equipment has been used only in three world leading clinics in the United States, Australia, Germany and now in Kazakhstan, too,” the press-service pointed out. The first heart transplantation was made in at the Kazakhstan National Scientific Cardiosurgical Center last year. "The surgery that saved the life of a Kazakhstan citizen Bolat Issayev became possible thanks to well coordinated work of the National Scientific Cardiosurgical Center, Syzganov National Scientific Surgery Center, National Transplantation Coordinating Center, National Coordinating Center of Sanitary Aviation and several others clinics of Almaty city," the press-service added. The National Scientific Cardiosurgical Center is fairly new, it operated its 100th patient on November 26. The surgery involved implantation of an artificial left ventricle (a chamber on the left side of the heart) to a man.
