Tengrinews.kz – Additional flights to Lake Alakol will be launched this summer.
Kazakhstani residents and tourists will be able to reach Lake Alakol by plane, train, or car.
Trains to Alakol
In the summer, 13 trains will operate to the Alakol resort area, with 4 of them being year-round, and 9 additional ones.
Almaty – Alakol:

Planes to Alakol
Starting June 1, 2025, SCAT Airlines will begin subsidized flights to the city of Urjar, located near Lake Alakol. There will be 6 flights per week between the capital and Urjar, as well as between Almaty and Urjar. The one-way ticket price from Astana to Urjar is 16,000 tenge, while the one-way ticket from Almaty to Urjar costs 14,000 tenge.
The launch of subsidized flights to Usharal is also being considered for the summer period.
By car to Alakol
According to the Ministry of Transport, access to Lake Alakol is via the Taldykorgan – Ust-Kamenogorsk highway (768 kilometers).
From the south, from the Zhetisu region, convenient access is through Usharal and further along the Usharal – Dostyk road (180 kilometers) along the southern shore of the lake.
From the north, from the Abai region, access is possible via the Taskesken – Bakhty road to the village of Makanchi (133 kilometers), then toward Makanchi – Zhalanashkol to the northern shore.
