The Asy Plateau: Observe the stars

Route description:

The high-mountain Asy plateau is more than 70 kilometers from Almaty. It is better to go along the route by SUV or as part of a tourist group. From the junction at the intersection of Ryskulov and the Kuldzhinsky tract, you should move to the east, at the 36th kilometer, and turn right towards Esik (Issyk). At the 57th kilometer, before the gas station, turn right again to the eco-post of the national park, then pass the village of Batan and another 15 kilometers along the dirt road to the Asy plateau.

We are near the building of the Almaty History Museum. The museum was founded in 2001, and in 2016, it moved to a new building that functioned as an orphanage in the city of Verny.

The Turgen Gorge is known for its beautiful nature, rich flora, and fauna. Coniferous and deciduous forests grow here.

We arrived in the village of Batan. The forestry is located here, and two rivers merge, Turgen and Maly Turgen. The asphalt road ends at this point, but the path to stunning natural attractions just begins.

The Asy Plateau is a breathtaking corner of the Almaty region. There are still families here who follow a nomadic lifestyle.
