Location: Tulebaev Street is located in the historical city center, which is unofficially called “Golden Square.”

What’s interesting about it?

Tulebaev Street is named in honor of the first Kazakh national classical composer, Mukan Tulebaev. He is one of the authors of the Anthem of the Kazakhstan Republic and the creator of the famous operas “Amangeldy” and “Birzhan and Sara.” He owns more than a hundred musical works in total.

Tulebaev Street used to be called Sergipolskaya, Fontannaya, and Abaya, and it’s one of the oldest streets in Almaty.

What to see?

If you walk from the intersection of Tulebaev and Gogol streets, the first significant place on your way will be the Arasan bathhouse. It is a historical and cultural monument and a unique health complex. Almost all the buildings on Tulebaev Street have their own intriguing histories; many of these houses have a connection with historical figures.

The most famous and unique resident of Tulebaev Street was the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan, Dinmukhamed Kunaev. A museum was opened in his apartment at the intersection with Bogenbai Batyr Street. Composer Bakhytzhan Baikadamov lived in the house next door. On Karasai Batyr Street is the house museum of the poet Sabit Mukanov. The last leader of Soviet Kazakhstan, Gennady Kolbin, lived in a house at the intersection with Shevchenko Street.

There are also monuments to the legendary rock musician Viktor Tsoi and Mukan Tulebaev located at the intersection with Abai Avenue.
