Location: Abai Avenue, 101a.
What’s interesting about it?
This wedding palace, opened in 1971, was the first of its kind in the Kazakh SSR. All young couples in the republic wanted to register their marriage there. They registered up to 90 marriages per day, but still, couples had to make reservations months in advance. More than 100 thousand couples tied the knot during the Palace's existence. Today, the children and grandchildren of those who married there in the past come to this palace too. Many couples celebrate their silver and gold weddings here.
What to see?
First of all, the building of the Palace is designed in a modernist style, attracting people’s eyes. The two-floor round building looks like two wedding rings, one inside the other. The facade of the Wedding Palace is lined with white marble and divided by panoramic windows in a circle. The basement part on the north side is hidden by relief-polished granite. The protective bars surrounding the windows are decorated with national patterns, which give the building lightness and solemnity.
White and beige shades are used for interior decoration. There is a beautifully decorated grand staircase in the center, along which the newlyweds ascend to the registration ceremony to the accompaniment of music.
When is the best time to visit?
The Wedding Palace is a popular destination for many tours in Almaty at any time of the year. The wedding ceremony must be booked in advance.
