What to see?

The 13-meter monument was erected in 1960 on the 115th anniversary of Abai’s birth. He holds a book in his left bent hand and the hem of the chapan draped over his shoulders in his right hand. His face is thoughtful, and his gaze is directed to the future.

Behind the monument is a large square, where concerts and other city events are often held, and the Palace of the Republic. You can also see a small park on the left and the “Arman” cinema on the right of the monument. Next to the Republic Palace are cable cars with which you can climb Kok-Tobe Mount. Walking to the lower part of the avenue, you will see the Kazakhstan Hotel and a steam fountain. The walking area of the Terrencur and the park, named after Shokan Ualikhanov, are also close to the monument.
