Kok-Tobe, the highest recreation park in Almaty

Location: Kok-Tobe Mountain

What’s interesting about it?

Visiting Kok-Tobe Park is perhaps one of the best ways to enjoy the city views from above. It is a perfect spot for a romantic date or spending time with friends and family. You can get to the top by bus, a car, or cable car, which starts running near the Arman cinema on Dostyk Avenue.

How did it appear?

The Kok-Tobe cableway was the first one built in the Central Asian region. This park was officially opened in 1967 and immediately became popular with Almaty citizens and city guests.

What's interesting nearby?

The famous 372-meter-high Almaty TV Tower is also located on Kok-Tobe. This TV Tower is one of the city's symbols and the tallest “building” in the city’s background. Visitors to the park can also enjoy an impressive panoramic view of Almaty and the Trans-Ili Alatau with its snow-capped peaks.

The all-season park has its own small zoo, Ferris wheel, attractions, cozy cafes, and a picturesque apple orchard.
