The Dostyk Park, named after Khamit Yergali
Location: Located between the Esentai River and Shashkin and Timiryazev streets.
What’s interesting about it?
The Dostyk Park, named after Khamit Ergali, received its name in honor of the Kazakh poet Khamit Ergali, the author of more than 30 books dedicated to the life of the Kazakh people. He translated works by Byron, Nekrasov, Navoi, Nizami, Sophocles, and Shakespeare into Kazakh.
The park underwent a massive reconstruction in 2020 and acquired a new concept focused on environmental friendliness.
What kind of entertainment is there?
You can walk, play sports, and spend time with your children in this cozy place. For its young visitors, the Dostyk park has a wooden playground, which, as the creators of the park note, is the only one of its kind in Almaty. There are sports grounds with modern equipment, an area for playing chess, and a place for walking dogs.
The park is part of a wide walking area on the Esentai River. This area also includes Zhas Kanat Square and another small park, Esentai, where anyone can have a picnic looking at the skyscrapers. The Botanical Garden is within walking distance.
When is the best time to visit?
The best time to visit Dostyk Park is in the summer. However, in the autumn, there and on the embankment of the Esentai River, you can take atmospheric photos with a golden background of fallen leaves.
