What’s interesting about it?

The area of Kaiyndy, which means “abundant with birch trees,” is famous for one of the wonders of Kazakhstan - a lake with sunken fir trees rising above the top. The unique local climate with iсe-cold water made it possible to preserve tree trunks and create an unusual scene for tourists.

What to see?

First of all, people come here to admire the unusual view of the lake. It was formed in 1911 as a result of the Kemin earthquake. The local river was blocked, and the mountain valley in front of this “dam” filled with water, flooding the coniferous forest growing there. Initially, the trees were completely flooded, but later, as the water receded, their upper parts appeared outward.

When is the best time to visit?

You can admire the atmospheric views of the lake and the Kungei-Alatau ridges and take beautiful photos at any time of the year. Swimming in the pond and skating on the frozen lake is prohibited.
