House-Museum of Mukhtar Auezov

What’s interesting about it?
Mukhtar Auezov is an outstanding Kazakh writer, playwright, and scientist. He is the author of short stories and monographic studies on the history of Kazakh and Kyrgyz literature and folklore. The crowning achievement of his creative career was the four-volume epic novel “Abai’s Path,” which brought the writer world fame.
Mukhtar Auezov lived for the last ten years, from 1951 to 1961, in the house on Tulebaev.
What kind of entertainment is there?
The exhibition is placed in 11 halls, where visitors can trace Mukhtar Auezov's life path and get acquainted with his creative heritage. The museum's collection contains more than 150 thousand unique items, including photographic materials, archival documents, memorabilia, and some artworks. Auezov’s office was recreated in a separate room; visitors can see the library of the great writer and his personal archive.
The exhibition also includes works by People's Artist of the USSR E. Vuchetich, portraits of Auezov by Kazakhstan artists A. Kasteev, K. Telzhanov, S. Mambeev, N. Nurmukhamedov, graphic illustrations for the novel “The Path of Abai” by E. Sidorkin, as well as sketches of costumes and decorations for Auezov's plays by famous artists G. Ismailova, A. Nenashev and E. Charnomsky.

The museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
