The Park of the 28 Panfilov Guardsmen
Location: The square of Kunaev - Gogol - Zenkov - Kazybek bi streets.
What’s interesting about it?
This park is the main place for celebrating the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Almaty City. Every year, citizens bring flowers to the Eternal Flame, and memorial events are also held there.
The atmosphere of the park is well-suited for a family vacation. Due to its historical significance and unique architectural ensemble, the park attracts both locals and tourists.
How did it appear?
The park was founded in the 1970s the 19th century on the site of the village cemetery and was named Starokladbisch ensky Park. After that, it changed its names many times, until in 1942, it was finally renamed in honor of those who became a symbol of courage - Panfilov guardsmen of the 1075th regiment of the 316th Infantry Division, which was formed in Alma-Ata at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. They were heroes who held back the advance of German soldiers with small forces in November 1941, blocking the way to Moscow.
