High-mountain sports complex “Medeu”

“Medeu” is the highest winter sports complex in the world. It is located at an altitude of 1,691 meters above sea level. The ice area is 10,500 square meters. Most of the world records in speed skating are set here. “Medeu” is the most visited sports complex in Kazakhstan. At the same time, it is a monument to urban planning and architecture.

What kind of entertainment is there?

Public skating is the main amusement here in the winter. Children under seven can skate here for free. Skate rental services are also available; tourists are provided with an instructor for a fee. Visitors can walk, take beautiful photos at the mudflow dam, and climb the “Staircase of Health.”

When is the best time to visit?

The skiing season opens in November and ends in the spring, depending on the weather. Skating sessions start at 10 a.m. and continue until midnight.
