Location: Kuldzhinsky tract, 2d.

What’s interesting about it?

An ice arena with an area of 11 hectares was built in the Medeu district of Almaty at the intersection of the Kuldzhinsky tract and the Talgar tract in anticipation of the 2017 Universiade. Its major block is an ice hockey arena measuring 61 by 30 meters, which can accommodate more than three thousand visitors.

The arena was specifically designed, so the hockey field could be converted into a platform for other sports, including volleyball, basketball, futsal, wrestling, and boxing. Major concerts also take place there. In just one year, the arena can accommodate more than 150,000 visitors.

What kind of entertainment is there?

It is the home arena of Hockey Club Almaty, and the club's hockey matches are regularly held there. There are also several sports clubs, including the Denis Ten International Figure Skating Academy (bronze medalist at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and 2015 World Championships, silver medalist at the 2013 World Championships, and winner of the 2015 Four Continents Championships). The first and only center in Central Asia for training hockey players of all ages, Ice Athletics, operates on the territory of this complex.

When is the best time to visit?

Public skating runs from October to March on weekends. The hockey season in Kazakhstan lasts from September to April.
