Kimasar Gorge

Location: Before reaching the Medeo ice rink, follow the sign and turn left. Then drive or walk a couple of kilometers to the ranger’s house.

What’s interesting about it?

A popular destination for those who enjoy easy hikes, the Kimasar Gorge offers the opportunity to go on a mountain swing and climb Furmanov Peak. Here, you can enjoy mountain views and relax by the Kimasar River, which is the left inflow of the Big Almaty River.

What kind of entertainment is there?

During the summer, the primary forms of entertainment consist of leisurely mountain hiking and swing riding. Just keep in mind that there is always a long line at the swings, so it is better to go hiking in the morning. The cozy inland valley is a great place for overnight stays and picnics. You can also ride horses there. In winter, the slopes are excellent for skiing, snowboarding, and sledding. Several routes pass through the gorge to other interesting locations.

When is the best time to visit?

In summer, among other things, you can enjoy relaxing at a small local waterfall. In winter, the hike is of greater interest to skiing enthusiasts.
